Mounted Unit...

The original Etowah County Sheriff's Mounted Posse was organized in the 1970's and disbanded in 1985 (see ecsmp).  It was re-organized in 1995 by former Chief Deputy and Unit Commander Kirby Johnston during the administration of the late Etowah County Sheriff James Hayes.

This website was created in 1997 to follow the growth of the Unit.   (Video)

The Unit took a different direction after Cdr. Johnston left in 2007 so this website is no longer officially affiliated with the Etowah Sheriff's Office.
